As the Silver Medalist in 2007, it has been 2 years for me to prepare for the next World Championships, with of course one focus and that is to be wearing the gold. Preparation doesn’t equate to a few months, but years of planning. Sectioning out my year for strength and conditioning training, skill enhancement as well as the mental clarity from competing in other events… getting into the “one-point-focus” and reaching my physical peak at the right time!!
The past few months I have been a bit of a recluse, working for Madawaska Kanu Center (MKC) and Owl Rafting on the Otttawa River. This reclusive attitude has allowed me to focus on my skills, bring them up to speed, progressing to the next level. It was early morning training season before work, then enjoying what is my home “the river”,share this with my customers daily.
I can say as I sit hear in my hotel room just before I fly out to Thun, I am ready. 100% physically, mentally and emotional ready.
I look forward to sharing my experience with you day to day, and I will not shy away from my true feels. The up’s and down, the city’s, other competitors, the whole package.
Here are a couple shots from the first day in Europe.
