Last weekend the last of 4 Teva Cardboard Races was held in Augsburg, Germany. The Olympic Whitewater Course from 1972 was the perfect location again for another classic with 15 teams creating many different types of vessels only to be build with cardboard, plastic foil and packing tape.

This year it was the 6th edition and part of the German Kayak Freestyle Championships on the “Icecanal”. This Race is all about to attract everyone (not only kayakers) to come to the whitewater course and have a lot of fun, trying to survive the rapids with their cardboard creations, to be build in 3 hours before the start of the race.
Always good to have some extra flotation (©Arnd Schaeftlein, Deckers Europe)
500 spectators came to watch the 2 hour of pure fun on and off the water, with plenty of great action and showing that sometimes the best looking vehicle is no guarantee to survive the swift currents of the course.
Next year I will get a better boat designer ! (©Arnd Schaeftlein, Deckers Europe)
Many thanks to Tatonka for supplying the enormous amounts of cardboard and packing tape.
See you again next year.
