After packing up at the Teva Dutch Rafting Rafting Championships it was time to hit the road to drive from France to Italy to meet Carla and Francesco Salvato, long time friends of mine and members of the organizing committee for the upcoming Teva Extreme Outdoorgames in Ivrea, Italy. The event was moved from Val Sesia to the new location in Ivrea, a large city with a much bigger event site than before. We had to start from scratch again with everything involved for set up. The plan was get together as early as possible to ensure that on day one of the event everything was in place and ready to go.

Besides being part of the event organization, Carla and Francesco running a successful kayak school and a newly opened bed and breakfast at their home in Torre Pelice, nestled in the foothills of the western Piemonte, close to Torino.

For a long time the Cascina del Forte used to be the shed to store the hay to feed the cows in the winter time. 3 years ago it got converted into the new home for the Salvatos and a small hotel. If you ever looking for a place to stay in the Torino area, check www.cascinadelforte.it

The next week will be busy with setting up the branding at all locations, deciding on the courses for the extreme kayak race on the Chiusella and all those challenges who usually turn up most unexpected before the an event starts…
